March Update and Video

Overheard:
As Kristen's belly grows, Thomas will often look at her growing tummy and comment, "Babies in there? Getting Bigger?"

Tonight, Thomas turned to his Dad who had just eaten dinner and dessert and was stretching back in his chair, and said "Babies in there?"

Thomas sings a lot, and we will often join in on a song. This (apparently) is totally unacceptable, and he immediately stops singing and yells, "NO! ONLY KIDS SING IT!"

Kristen picked Jack up from school and he said:
Jimmy and I talked about it and we decided we are going to have a playdate tomorrow. He's going to come over to play at my house at 5 o'clock in the morning.

Jack and Thomas's grandmother is called Kaki because her name is Kathy and that's the name she picked out. They were recently here to stay with us for 10 days. We had a great time. Yesterday I tried to dress Thomas in his khaki pants and he protested with, "NO! Put on Tommy's pants, NOT Kaki's pants!"

Twins Update:
As of Saturday, March 26th: 17 weeks
Kristen measures 21 centimeters which is roughly the size of a singleton pregnancy between 19 and 22 weeks.
Twins weigh 6 ounces each, and are roughly the size of avocados.
Kristen can feel them moving!
So happy to have gained 7 pounds in 4 weeks. Woo Hoo!
Sonogram on Friday and the tech was very confident about her prediction for gender. They won't call it "official" this early, but we think we know who is in there. We'll post on the blog soon. Call us and we'll tell you now!



A day in the life of the Powell Family:
-Today was Jim's day off (ha!) or rather, his day out of the office.
-Today Jim fixed the leaking sink and the toilet that sounds like it has a monster in it. No more leak, no more monster. Only one trip required to Home Depot (or Home Tepot as Tom calls it).
-Kristen patched holes in 6 pairs of jeans, 1 pair of sweat pants, and gave up and turned one pair of Khakis into shorts.
-Jim made Thanksgiving Dinner (because we had a free turkey frozen from Thanksgiving that needed to be used and because turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes and cranberry sauce is Kristen's all time favorite meal) (BTW, just in case you think Jim is superhuman, Kristen actually made the cranberry sauce and green beans.)
-Jack and Thomas made Kristen a birthday cake with a little help from their Dad.
-Some chocolate frosting actually made its way past Thomas's mouth and onto the cake.
-Thomas sang The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything song at least 25 times.
-Jack went to preschool and loved Dinosaur Day, he dressed to theme in his dinosaur shirt. Went to bed in his dinosaur pajamas.
-Kristen went to the chiropractor (carrying twins plus lifting a 2 year old and 4 year old is taking its toll!) and the OB where she heard two heartbeats!
-Kristen came home from Dr's appt to find Thomas watching the local squirrel eating cashews on our deck (yes, we feed him). Kristen: What are you doing? Tom: Watching Dat (That). Kristen: Oh, the squirrel, what is his name? Tom: Dat.
-Tom changed clothes three times because we are still working on potty training (potty training and first trimesters do not work well together).
-Kristen and Jim both fell asleep while watching the PBS Newshour post-turkey dinner while the boys played happily in the basement. After approximately 7.5 minutes of peace they awakened to the noise of many toys (megablocks?) being thrown against the basement walls with gusto.
